The ‘Almost’ Zero Waste Family
After 20 years of working with nonprofits dealing with social-cultural, environmental and humanitarian issues, Jérémie Pinchon faced the sad fact that our system is based on over-consumption, devastating humankind and our planet.
In 2014, he and his wife, Bénédictine Moret, decided to dedicate themselves to being a zero waste family. Within three years, their 390 kg of waste was reduced to 1 kg, or one jar, per year, effectively creating a new way of life. They have written a book about their experience, The ‘Almost’ Zero Waste Family. At the conference, Jérémy will recount how his family has managed this adventure. He will tell us about the enormous and unexpected benefits they derived from such a major change. In eliminating their trash can, they ultimately attacked the dominant system of overconsumption and designed a sustainable, healthy and happy way of life.
