Towards Zero waste : Challenges and Toughts
Mélissa de La Fontaine
On January 1, 2013, Mélissa de La Fontaine made her first new year’s resolution ever: to strive for a zero waste lifestyle. In this seminar, she will talk about her personal journey over the past six years. The successes and the setbacks, the good challenges and the bad ones. Without claiming to have the ultimate recipe for zero waste, she will share her tips and tricks as well as her reflections about our over-consumptive lifestyles.
A zero waste blogger since January 2016, Mélissa does not necessarily come from the environmental milieu. She discovered the zero waste lifestyle through Bea Johnson and her family, which launched her on this path in January 2013.
Since 2015, Mélissa has presented on the simplicity of her zero waste lifestyle to a variety of media, such as the program L’Épicerie, RDI Matin, Salut Bonjour, Huffington Post and CBC Radio.
She also offers seminars about this subject with the goal of speaking more with interested citizens. She spoke at the Zero Waste Festival of France in Paris in July 2016, giving a workshop and participating on a panel regarding the state of the Zero Waste movement in the Francophone world. Afterwards, with Laura Caillot, she co-founded Collectif citoyen Éco-Système, an incubator for projects involving responsible consumption in general, and zero waste in particular. This collective catalyzed the first Zero Waste Festival of Montréal and the Québec Zero Waste Association
